Safe-T-Shelter® began making underground shelters in 1995. Our first shelter was made from fiberglass, which we continued to make while developing a rotationally molded model. Our present shelter is the result of two years of research and design, which is patented, and brought to the market in the fall of 1999. It has withstood, high winds, high ground water, falling trees and debris and still protected everyone inside. In June 2000, Texas Tech Wind Engineering Research Center tested the door and Certified it based on FEMA 320 guidelines.
